For the 3rd time in a row, it's Alberta (Ferby) vs. Nova Scotia (Adams) in the Brier Final!
A good game and,
Once again,
It's an Alberta win for Team Ferby! Congrats eh!!
No Hockey.
No Stanley Cup Playoffs.
So, it has come down to this, has it?
I am reduced to watching the Finals in Curling in lieu of the NHL. Oddly enough, it is only covered on Canadian television. Nary a peep from ESPN regarding the outcome.
Alberta beat out Nova Scotia 5 to 4, by the way.
I guess I could have just not watched it, but it seems I have an addiction. Well, I’m sure, it could be argued I have several; this is just the oddest one.
I spent a great deal of time trying to explain the game to my wife. I was actually amazed I knew the rules and so on. Apparently, a suppressed memory from an ill-spent youth involving a broom and tossing rocks. Sometimes, I even wonder about me.
To say Curling is a bit less exciting than Hockey is a bit like comparing American game shows to the Canadian version. In the States, you can win a new house, a new car, and so on. In Canada, you win a picture of a house and a gift card to Canadian Tire. The premise is similar, but the pay off..Not so much.
So next week, I am hoping to see more interesting sports. So far, I have seen the finals for the Paper / Rock / Scissors Tournament from Las Vegas; the World Bar Dart Competition from “God knows where” on Fox West; and, of course, the world Miniature Golf Putt Off (brought to you by Preparation H.)
I guess there is some kind of basketball ‘thingy’ this week, as well.
But, hey, I am a Real sports fan, none of this weird ‘sport’ stuff for me.
