How To Make Lemonade

So here’s the deal.

Over the last month or so, there have been three separate incidents involving Canadian Border Guards. The incidents involved the Border Guards leaving their posts at the border because “armed and dangerous” dudes were heading for Canada. It seems that the Border Guards are not allowed to carry guns; however, they are given cans of pepper spray.

I get that attempting to stop a wanted murder suspect, and so on, with pepper spray may, in fact, be a tad underpowered.

“Halt or I’ll spray!” clearly lacks a bit of a bite to it.

The whole thing comes down to the Canadians not wanting to arm these folks and the Union representing the Border Guards takes an issue with it.

On the other hand, what are these fugitives thinking? Hey, I lived in the great White North for 10 years. Screwing with the RCMP would not be my idea of a fun time.

Head for Mexico… it’s much easier to arrive at an economical settlement with the Federal Police concerning your relocation plans.

So here is my thought.

Why not have Dick Cheney ‘head up’ the border folks in Canada?
He could teach the finer points of quail / fugitive hunting.
Nothing like a little birdshot to slow these folks down.

Of course, I could be wrong, wouldn’t be the first or last time.
