Where to start?

So the other morning, a guy from Whitefish, Montana decides it is time to go “Rambo” on a bunch of folks at a party in Seattle’s Capital Hill area. This was after a night of dancing at a ‘Rave’ party. Seems our young “Jeremiah Johnson” showed up at the dance, made some friends, got invited to an early morning ‘after party’ and then shot 6 folks before taking the gutsy way out by eating his own gun.

All of this is horrific on it’s own; now read the list of the folks who died and lets take it from there.

The King County Medical Examiner's Office released names and ages of the dead on Monday:

Melissa Lynn Moore, 14, of Milton, shot in the chest and head.

Jeremy Robert Martin, 26, the only resident of the Capitol Hill home where the shooting took place to be a victim.

Justin Schwartz, 22, shot in the torso and neck. A native of Bethel, Alaska, he described himself as Eskimo, but people often mistook him for Asian, and he went by the nickname "Sushi."

Suzanne Thorne, 15, gunshot to head.

Jason Travers, 32, gunshot to head, born and raised in Albany, N.Y., he was a vegan and opposed to war.

Christopher Williamson, 21, shot in the chest and head, had recently completed rehab and reportedly was attending the rave as his last, a goodbye party of sorts.

Gunman, Aaron Kyle Huff, who killed himself.

What in God’s name is your 14 or 15 year-old doing at an all night ‘Rave’ party?
How did your child end up at a party with 30 and 20 year olds in the first place?

I feel bad for the parents who lost their 14-year-old daughter, it would destroy me. And yet, I struggle with the statement, “She really liked going to Rave Parties, she liked the people she met.”

Would that include the folks who bring the Ecstasy to these fun dances or just the ones who show up with guns to blow people away?

Here’s a thought, a 14 year-old should not be some 80 miles away from home with her 15 year-old friend at any all night dance.

When did we ‘check out’?

How the hell is this not Child endangerment or neglect?
